Common Sense Bridge 2: Introduction to Competitive Bidding

...

This 4-week class is our second in a series that teaches you bridge principles in a comfortable and fun environment. In this class we will cover the fundamentals of competitive bridge bidding: preemptive opening bids, overcalls and advances, takeout doubles and advances, and an overview of the competitive auction.

Prerequisite: Common Sense Bridge 1 or equivalent.

The Common Sense approach we employ systematically and clearly layers new information upon previously learned concepts, providing a coherent structure that minimizes the need to always attempt to memorize new ideas in isolation, making learning easier. You'll also benefit from this class if you've recently started playing bridge, or would like to refresh your knowledge.

Bridge is the ultimate partnership game. As such, communication between partners is of paramount importance in order to convey information about your hand strength and shape. The best way to communicate these assets is by employing the concept of inference. Our teaching stresses the use of inferences to maximize the partnership's success when bidding, playing, and defending.
